Black Lives Matter

Update: To date, we have received no entries into this contest. We will continue to honor this offer even though the deadline has passed.

We believe that black lives matter. We believe that racial inequality exists. We believe that minority voices are under-represented. And even though we are a small publication with a small audience, we believe in our responsibility to speak out in support of the fight against racial inequality and police brutality.

One of the ways to support black creators during this time is to purchase their content, and we encourage you to submit your recommendations below so that we can help promote it. If you’re interested in games, you can also purchase this bundle of over 700 games from itch.io for as little as $5. All proceeds will be split evenly between the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Community Bail Fund. This bundle includes Night in the Woods and Oxenfree - each alone would easily be worth the $5 donation.

Every donation counts. If you’re able to purchase the bundle above, or make a donation of any amount to one of the organizations supporting the fight against racial inequality, tell us about it. At the end of the month, we’ll randomly select up to 5 entries to receive either a digital copy of a mystery game/book of their choice, or the equivalent value in an additional donation to that organization. If you make a donation and recommend content for us to review, we’ll give you a bonus entry into the drawing.

HOW TO ENTER

1. Make a donation to an organization fighting racial inequality or police brutality.

2. Send your receipt to blm@sassy-detective.com or tweet us @sassydetectives. (Bonus entry if you also include a recommendation for mystery content by black creators.)

That’s it! We’ll randomly select the winners on June 30th and contact you via the method you used to enter. We’ll either send you a digital copy of a mystery game or book of your choice, or if you prefer, we’ll take the equivalent value and donate it to your chosen organization.

Fine Print:

Entries must be submitted by 11:59pm Mountain on Monday, June 29th. Receipts must be dated within 30 days of June 7, 2020. Participants are eligible for up to 2 entries in the drawing (1 for a receipt and 1 for a recommendation of mystery content by black creators). Up to 5 winners will be randomly selected on Tuesday, June 30th and contacted via the method used to enter (email or twitter). Winners must respond by 11:59pm on Friday, July 3rd to claim their prize. Only one prize can be awarded per person. Winners can select between two prize options: a gifted digital copy of a mystery game or book costing up to $30 USD, or an equivalent donation to the organization to which the participant originally donated, up to $30 USD.
